About us

History

This Society was originally named American Gesneriad Society of San Francisco (abbreviated AGSSF) under a Charter granted by The American Gloxinia and Gesneriad Society (abbreviated AGGS) on July 1, 1977.

AGGS made a name change to The Gesneriad Society in 2005. In order to better conform to the names of other chapters we changed our name to San Francisco Gesneriad Society (abbreviated SFGS) in March 2006.

The membership voted to dissolve the Society at the Jully 2023 monthly meeting, on July 16, 2023. For minutes of the meeting, see the November 2023 issue of our newsletter.
