The Newsletter Editor Really Exists
by Terri Campbell
On November 8, five SFGS members attended a Novemberfest and housewarming party hosted by Lorah and Joe Gross. We hope Lorah, our seldom-seen but hardworking newsletter editor, enjoyed hosting her SFGS friends Anna Chou, Bing Quock, Christopher Quock, David Waugh, and Terri Campbell. We all had a great time touring Lorah and Joe's new place in Los Altos, which has a wonderful shaded backyard full of old trees, a fountain, a brick oven, and many other features of interest. Lorah served delicious food and we found out that Joe can play the (virtual) drums.
We met many of Joe and Lorah's friends and neighbors and one of their two cats (the other one was hiding).
Editor’s Note: I enjoyed visiting with you guys and am glad that we could educate a few more people about gesneriads. J
San Francisco Botanical Nursery Sale
by Terri Campbell
The San Francisco Botanical Nursery will hold an end-of-year sale on Saturday, December 6 at the Garden Nursery. Buy one plant, get another of equal or lesser value free for each plant purchased! I am told that there are likely to be some gesneriads, and there will certainly be a large variety of tempting plants for sale. The Botanical Nursery is raising money with this sale and others for a new and beautiful education building. If you are interested in attending the sale, you can enter the parking lot entrance to the Botanical Garden behind the County Fair building and go west down the path. Anna Chou will be attending the sale and she will be glad to lead the way to the sale for anyone else attending; please get in touch with Anna if you would like to meet her to attend the sale.
