Program: Blue Ribbon Design

April and May Programs

by Terri Campbell

April's program will be a Gesneriad Society slide show on "Blue Ribbon Design."  Everyone can pick up some helpful tips for design projects for our September show.  We hope to have an outstanding artistic division!

May's program will be a field trip to the San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers.  Please note that this trip is planned for Saturday, May 17, rather than Sunday.  The club plans to pay the entrance fees for our members participating in the field trip.  If you would like to go, please let David Waugh know.  We will be planning to meet and car-pool, probably from the County Fair Building.

Name Our Show

by Terri Campbell

Our September show needs a name!  Some recent show names have been "Gesneriads by the Golden Gate" and "Gesneriads: Miraculous Houseplants."  We need your ideas to come up with a name for this year's show.  Try filling in the blanks below, or come up with your own creative formula!  You can send your titles to Terri Campbell at harpsvoice@earthlink.net, or bring them to the next meeting.  We'll vote on the titles then and choose a winner, who will receive a small prize.

Minutes of San Francisco Gesneriad Society

March 16, 2008 Meeting

by David Waugh

The March meeting was called to order by President Jon Dixon at 1:15pm.   The following were also present:  David Waugh, Bob Hudak, Katherine Henwood, Anna Chou, Gene Sussli,   Kevin Daly, Teh-Shan Lee, Tommy Liu, Nirmela Arsem,  Larry Williams, Terri Campbell.

Minutes:  There were no corrections to the minutes for the Febraury meeting which were in the February newsletter.

Treasurer’s report:  Our financial condition is good.  It was mentioned we still owe the building rents for 2007.   We have been awaiting a billing. If you need a copy of the February Treasurer’s report please contact Gene Sussli.

New Business:  David Waugh passed around copies of  previous years flyers for our late Spring sale and our Fall Show and Sale asking for ideas for the upcoming May 31 display and sale.  The-Shan Lee volunteered to find pictures on the internet and design a new flyer.

Continuing Business:  Advertising of our meetings:  Lorah Gross put an ad for the March meeting on Craig’s List.  We did have two visitors (were they generated by Craig’s list?) but it turned out they were more interested in African Violets.   They were given information about the San Francisco African Violet Society.   Teh-Shan Lee volunteered to do the April meeting ad for Craig’s List.

The program was a slide show of award flowers at the 2003 Sacramento Convention of AGGS.

We then did Show and Tell and the Raffle.

The meeting was adjourned about 3:31pm.
