Program: Tour of Greenhouses at Home of Jon Dixon
The Prez Sez...
by Katherine Henwood
I think May may well be our best month! The garden is looking good, and I wish I could say as much for the gesneriads! As I've said, the green house is do for a reroofing and so I haven't done much in there about propagating. I won't have much to show or sell, so I'm really hoping that you-all will fill in the gaps.
This month we are going to visit Jon Dixon and see his greenhouse and growing space. Details about location and car-pooling will be found elsewhere.
Remember that the San Mateo County Fair is in August, 10th thru the 19th. Entries are due no later than July 11. So be looking at your collection and be prepared to enter anything that looks likely!
I look forward to seeing you all at Jon's!

The tour of Jon Dixon's Greenhouses and meeting will commence at 1pm. Bring your bag lunch. We will make final arrangements for the June 2 sale and display, and discuss participation in the August San Mateo Fair. If you need a ride please let David Waugh know so this can be coordinated. If you need directions to get to Jon's house in Woodside contact David Waugh.
Tour of Conservatory of Flowers
June 16 (Saturday)
by David Waugh
The special tour conducted by staff of the Conservatory of Flowers, Golden Gate Park, will commence at 11am from the ticket kiosk in front. The club will pay our entrance fees. Access to parking in the area around the Dahlia gardens east of the Conservatory will not be hampered by the street closings in Golden Gate Park. In order to reduce the number of cars trying to park in= this area plan to meet at 10:15 in the parking lot of the Fair Building, with your bag lunch, We will join together in fewer cars and proceed to the Conservatory. Lunch will be after the tour. Please let David Waugh know by June 8 if you plan to join this tour. Also, please remember to add this date to your 2007 yearbook.

by David Waugh
The meeting was called to order at 1:29pm by President Katherine Henwood. The following were also present: David Waugh, Jon Dixon, Harriette Poss, Kevin Daly, Paula De Bella
The 2007 Yearbook was given to those present. The rest of the members will receive them by mail.
Minutes: There were no corrections to the minutes for the March meeting which were in the April newsletter.
As the Treasurer was not present there was no Treasurer’s report.
Continuing Business: Jon Dixon had knowledge of a student who was writing or had written a book on Gesneriads. He is still awaiting information about this book.
The San Mateo County Fair is this August. The details are not yet known but as soon as the details are known the Club will decide if we will participate.
The tour of the Conservatory of Flowers, Golden Gate Park is to replace our meeting on June 16, a Saturday. Since we have to pay an entrance fee for every member on this tour it was proposed that the Club pay for this. It was proposed and seconded that the club pay the entrance fee. More details about where and when to meet will be passed to the members shortly. There will probably be a carpool from the parking lot at the Fair Building.
New Business: It was proposed that we make Irene Fey an honorary Member of our Club
because of her long service as Treasurer. The proposal was made and seconded that this be done. The Secretary will notify her by letter.
A draft of our June 2 plant sale flyer to be sent to our mailing list was passed around for comment. It was decided to say ‘Rare Plant Sale’ and to make the copy in larger print. The flyer will be mailed to our mailing list and to the members on May 8.
The program was a slide show about Sinnningias
We then did Show and Tell and the Raffle.
The meeting was adjourned by 4pm.
