Program: Propagation talk by Gene Sussli

The Prez Sez...

by Katherine Henwood

Well, the greenhouse has a new roof.  I am amazed at how light it is and how fast it heats up now.  The old roof had several serious holes in it and an overlay of lichen that really cut the light transmission down.  It looks brand-new and I am delighted!

The petrocosmea leaves that I put down after our June sale are all showing plantlets, so I should have some tiny plants for the sale.  Also some columnea starts and a couple of eucodonia   I hope you all will plants for the sale and some to show. This is a prime time for educating people about our plants and the greater the variety available the better. Special thinks are due to David Waugh, Terri Campbell and Lorah Gross for their work on publicity and paperwork for this event!

July Program

by Terri Campbell

Many thanks to Jon Dixon for giving us an overview of the 2007 Convention experience for our July program.  Those of us not fortunate enough to attend enjoyed hearing about the show, the activities, the plant sale, the auction, and the weather.  Also, thanks to Alan LaVergne, we had some convention photos for the meeting. Here is a taste of what Alan presented:

Sinningia 'Ozark Scentimental Journey', hybridized by David Harris of the "state of Misery".  I believe Dale Martens had something to do with it as well.

This plant was exhibited by Thad Scaggs of Florida.

Some people claimed to be able to detect a scent, but I could not.  I believe the scent was supposed to come from S. guttata, which is somewhere in its ancestry. – Alan
