Program: Field Trip to Sacramento
The Prez Sez...
by Katherine Henwood
Fall has definitely fallen. The leaves of the maple tree are going south at a great rate, cold, cloudy days keep me indoors. This coming Saturday the club has scheduled a field trip to Sacramento for the Delta chapter's show and sale. I know there will be some good plant material available and I hope you will all take advantage of it! Their show should be exciting and I look forward to seeing it.
This month the Nominating committee will be looking for candidates for office for nest year. If you are asked, say yes! None of our jobs are hard and need not take a lot of time.
Our November meeting will feature our favorite photographer, Ron Parsons, I hope to see you there!

If you are interested in going to the Sacramento Show and Sale as part of the group please let me know ASAP (email or phone 415 239 4315) so all the transportation can be arranged. Also let me know your preferences for lunch. I will confirm to you where we will meet, a consensus of where to eat, and at what time we will start this trip.

I would like to have a few articles on the website that briefly explain what gesneriads are, a little history about our group, and maybe some growing tips. If you’re interested, please contact me or David Waugh to submit an article.

The meeting was called to order at 1:28pm by President Katherine Henwood. The following were also present: Harriette Poss, David Waugh, Gene and Dotty Sussli, Larry Williams, Terri Lynn Campbell, Jon Dixon, Anna Chou. The meeting got started late because other rooms in the building were being used and the parking lot was being tightly controlled by the Park Service.
Minutes: There were no amendments to the minutes of the August meeting printed in the September Newsletter.
The Treasurer summarized our financial condition for the month of August 2006. If anyone not at the meeting wants a copy of the August report please request them from the Secretary.
Preparation for upcoming Show and Sale: There will be 3 Judges, one of which will be a student Judge; 2 clerks, Debra LaVergne and Gene Sussli; the Judges breakfast will be handled by Harriette Poss; Jon Dixon will be Classifications authority. David Waugh will see that we have copies of the ‘Gesneriads’ brochure and the brochure about our club. Terri Campbell has arranged the Judges luncheon and Gene Sussli will disburse the stipends to the Judges and to the awards winners.
The program was a slide show “Alpine and Cool growing Gesneriads” which gave us a look at many rarely seen gesneriads.
We then did Show and Tell and the Raffle.
