The Prez Sez...

by Katherine Henwood

These sunny days are nice, but chilly in the shade.   I hope you are looking at cuttings and/or seed with an eye toward our sales.  A well grown plant practically sells itself!  I have some little streps coming along, some chiritas and some very small petrocosmeas.  I hope they will be big enough when the time comes! With spring coming next month, active growing starts again, so be on the lookout for those pesky bugs and slugs, they just love new growth.

I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting, February 19, 2006, it will be a good one, as usual!

February Program

by Terri Campbell

Our February meeting program will include a brief workshop/demonstration on "Sowing Seed" by Jon Dixon.  Also, we will have a "rhizome party."  If you have extra rhizomes to trade, please bag and label them and bring them to the meeting.  We'll trade them around.  Also, we'll discuss how to plant rhizomes.

Treasurer’s Report:  The Treasurer passed around copies of a report of our income and disbursements for year2005. If you missed the meeting and want a copy contact the Treasurer. We have no outstanding debts except for room rental, a comfortable balance in the bank, and a cushion reserve in a Certificate of Deposit.

Old business: Our April meeting will be on the 23rd  (instead of on April 16th which is Easter) and our Show and Sale is moved to September 23/24 in order to resolve a conflict.   This will give us a bigger gap between the San Mateo County Fair and our show.  Details of all this will be in the 2006 Year Book.

New Business:  The President called for a Board meeting to be held on February 19 before our regular meeting in the Garden Club Room.   The time to meet will be sent to the Board members before the meeting date.

The Program for this meeting was a slide show by Ron Parsons.   He showed us orchids and other plants of South and Western Australia.   Ron visited that area late last year and took the magnificent slides he showed us.

After the slide show program we did “Show and Tell” and the raffle..

The meeting was adjourned at 3:55 pm
