Program: Holiday Luncheon at Lakeside Cafe
The Prez Sez...

Dear friends: December is with us again and we are looking forward to our Holiday Luncheon. We will meet at the Lakeside Cafe, 2529 Ocean Ave. in San Francisco at 12:30 PM on Sunday, December 17. The menu choices are usually beef, salmon, or chicken with vegetables. This includes coffee or tea. Our society will foot the bill for members for the main meal, anything else is your choice and your bill. As usual, if you wish to participate in a gift exchange, bring a wrapped plant oriented gift, not to exceed $10.00. This is always fun.
This is a good time to check over your catalogs and the GS seed list and think about what you would like to grow for the coming year. Catalogs, true wish books!
I look forward to seeing you all on the 17th! For those of you who cannot come, we will miss you and I wish you a joyful holiday!

Minutes of San Francisco Gesneriad Society
November 19, 2006 Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 1:24pm by President Katherine Henwood. The following were also present: Harriette Poss, David Waugh, Gene Sussli, Larry Williams, Terri Lynn Campbell, Jon Dixon, Anna Chou, Ron Parsons and friend Marian, Celine Chase and daughter Barbara, Paula DeBella.
Minutes: There were no minutes for October as we had a field trip to Sacramento.
The Treasurer passed around a report summarizing our financial condition for the months of September and October 2006. If anyone not at the meeting wants a copy of this report please request them from the Secretary.
New Business: The club by-laws state that the November meeting is the time for the club to vote for officers for the coming year. The President apologized for forgetting to appoint a Nominating Committee; therefore, there is no slate of officers. The President suggested that the present officers extend their term in office for the year 2007. The officers agreed to do so and the members present voted unanimously to accept the extended terms of the officers. They are:

Continuing Business: The Gesneriad Society Board of Directors is expected to come to San Francisco February 2-3, 2007. Approximately 15 members of the board will be here. Jon Dixon is the chairman/host/coordinator representing our club for this event. He has reserved rooms in the San Francisco Fair Building for their activities, and is also coordinating the groups’ needs for accommodations. There will be some activity where our club members will have a chance to meet the Gesneriad Society Board. They will tour Strybing Arboretum as well as the Conservatory of Flowers, and have meetings to discuss Board matters
Terri Campbell, in her capacity as Program Chairman, asked members to submit ideas for meeting programs for the year 2007.
Our Christmas party, paid for by the club, is on December 17, 2006 at Lakeside Café, Ocean Avenue, between Junipero Serra and 19th Avenue, San Francisco at 12:30pm. Those who wish may bring a garden gift of less than $10 to exchange with others who bring a gift.
The Program was member Ron Parsons slide show of wild flowers of California, from San Diego, up the coast to the Oregon border and back through the inland to Death Valley. As in the past the pictures Ron took are just magnificent, a very good slide show. Ron is also a co- author of a book , with copious pictures, titled Calochortus, Mariposas and their relatives. Many of this plant group were in the slide show.
We then did Show and Tell and the Raffle.
The meeting was adjourned by 4pm.
